Joyous Discoveries

The month of July has been one of new experiences and fun firsts.

Festa Junina is a traditional Brazilian festival where everyone dresses up as native country folk (we were quite tame) and get together for tasty food, games (like sac races, long jumping, and the dance of the orange, where a couple has to dance holding an orange up with their heads, the last couple standing wins), and a wedding. A shotgun wedding to be precise with the town sheriff at the groom's side.

Joy also found the freedom and excitement that comes with being able to move around on her own. Although her crawl is more similar to the lunges of a seal, she is getting more and more proficient each day and can now get around quite quickly. It's getting hard to keep up with the little ball of giggles and even harder to get a picture of her sitting still.

The Orville Family Reunion was last weekend. We drove up to Idaho to spend a day of fun with Orville's aunts, uncles, cousins, grandma, and most importantly, Joy's grandparents! And the best part? We won a quilt! Joy is quite the fan!

This week in particular has been a great week of firsts. We played hide seek on Tuesday, learned how to High 5 on Wednesday, blew bubbles on Thursday, and found our reflections in the stove and oven on Friday.

Overall, it has been a pretty exciting month!

  3. Don't tell Madison Avenue about your photos of Joy. They are sooooo good. They will want to put her in commercials and destroy her childhood.
